Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB)

On multiple occasions, SWISE has had the opportunity to tour the FRIB. In 2020, NASA's Director of Technology Demonstrations and Chief of the Human Exploration and Space Operations Division, Trudy Kortes was able to join us on the tour before giving a public talk to students.

Women in Aerospace Conference

Since the conference was founded in 2019 by WAA at University of Michigan, SWISE has attended the incredible conference every year. Each conference is dedicated to a notable women in STEM and consists of various keynote speakers, workshops, and networking opportunities. In the past, we have heard from former astronauts, NASA scientists, and representatives from large industries such as NASA, Lockheed Martin, Blue Origin, Raytheon, Boeing, and more.

Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics (CUWiP)

SWISE members, as well as other MSU students, have attended CUWiP, an annual conference hosted by numerous universities and laboratories around the country. In 2023, students attended the three day conference at Argonne National Laboratory where they experienced numerous workshops, research talks, networking events, toured the Argonne facility, and visited Fermilab

Abrams Planetarium

One of our more popular events is attending various shows at Abrams Planetarium right here on MSU's campus. The planetarium offers an immersive experience with a variety of shows covering various space and physics related topics.

Air Zoo and Plane Restoration

The Kalamazoo Air Zoo is a fun place to learn about about aeronautics and astronautics. SWISE had the opportunity to work hands on with the restoration crew and help restore a plane recovered from Lake Michigan and learn about what goes on behind the scenes.
